Spoonquill

The virtual residency for writers who count spoons

Spoonquill is a fully online 12-week program for writers with chronic illness. Designed with rest in mind, the Spoonquill cohort meets three times a month over three months, convening for group writing sessions and guest-led discussions of writing and publishing. The program intends to provide the community and content of a classic writer's residency, but without the travel and rigorous scheduling that comes at a high health cost.

The guest instructors for our Spring 2027 session are Zhui Ning Chang, Jen Coster, Sarah Gailey, Ada Palmer, and DongWon Song.

Applications for the Spring 2027 cohort are now open. The residency is free to apply and attend. The program is best suited to writers of speculative fiction who enjoy thinking and talking about craft.
